I thought shows were going to take a backseat for at least a couple months of starting school, but in fact it's been quite the opposite. I finally have a trained hype man, who is THE man, and spits some verses of his own, like a Spose/Cam type deal. We're going to be doing new tracks of mine, a new collab track (soon to be released), and of course, the Senioritis material to a ton of people who have never heard it before. Many more shows (some already lined up) will be announced in the near future, but check this OUT: First, we hit the Nine's Pizza down in Collegetown, right outside Cornell's campus in Ithaca, NY. Thursday, September 23rd. 9pm. It's a show thrown by a campus club promoting Outreach, all proceeds go to the club. Our first official show here at school. I am beyond excited. I'm actually going to tell everyone I talk to about it. It's going to rock some socks off (lame?) for sure. We gotta get this network really going, up in here, if you know what I mean... This Thursday night, September 23rd, starts at 9pm, a few bands play, and we go on around 11pm. Admission if $5. Awesome pizza that apparently comes down in a pizza elevator, but of course that's irrelevant. COME ROCK WITH US CORNELL AND ITHACA COLLEGE STUDENTS Rock for ROC benefit - facebook event Next, we hit NEW YORK CITY!!! down in Manhattan.... at THE STUDIO AT WEBSTER HALL with NINJA SONIK. Friday night, October 1st. 7pm! All my NYU, FIT, Fordham, and other city buddies are going to come out and reunite the fam. DJ INTELLIGENT DESIGN my dude will be BACK, taking the subway over from his side of Manhattan to meet up and DJ the show. Hypeman/collaborator Kia Rogers is making the trip as well. We're skipping class in order to play this show. Take that. Ninja Sonik. Oxymorrons. Johnny Nelson. This will be an awesome, underground hip-hop show/party and we'd LOVE it if you came out to NYC and rocked with us. The show is October 1st, 7pm, The Studio at Webster Hall, in New York, New York, 19+ admission (sorry, buds...). If you love hip-hop, hot women, alcohol, the city, or basically anything good that life has to offer: be at this show. Get tickets online now HERE (please put down 'DYLAN OWEN' as the band you are coming to see, it makes a difference for me...). Or, get tickets at the door for only 12$ on the day of the show!! But make sure you say you're there to see Dylan Owen! Look. I'm real excited. If you can't tell by my overuse of CAPS. It's supposed to stress the things I really, really don't want ya missin' I better see your face at these shows. Love ya, D.O. I was hanging with a few friends out there this summer and he gave me a burnt demo of his beat tape, and this one particular beat really stood out to me. So I rapped over it, check it out for free here: "Keep My Eye on the Road" free demo! it's my first demo recording at school, done in yours truly's dorm room. I'm going to hit up some official studios around here soon, as well. These free downloads are going to keep coming and keep improving, so stay tuned for more. I've got a song featuring Kia on the way, all about the 'first week of school'.... ADAM FORD, talk to him, let him know you like his beat, ask him to hear some more jams: adam ford on youtube adam ford's facebook thanks again for the beat man! And thanks for listening/downloading it guys! Hope you like the verse. -dyl. p.s. SAM ADAMS show video is DOPE and it'll be up in the next two days : ) College life 09/02/2010
What's going on everybody? You guys still out there? I've been a little too lazy on my blog posts these past few weeks. Had to pack up my mind and hit the road up to Cornell. As of now, I'm still in the settling in process, mentally at least... It's surely rocking though. I walk more than I could have ever imagined, do extensive amounts of homework, do laundry like I could have never imagined, and some other classy things. The variety of students here---international and national---is mind-blowing, yet they all seem to be into real cool music. Me and my buddy noticed that there's no spoken word/lyric team on campus, so we're starting/reviving one. I've already booked a few shows (here, home, elsewhere, and am DEFINITELY on the lookout to pile on some more), i've got an open mic in my dorm on sunday (nervous! just kidding, but i'm stoked), and am playing at frat party at ________ University. More details on all those are to come shortly. Also, there is a large amount of very good looking girls who ride bicycles around campus. It's wild We've got a lot to catch up on. Some of which I can tell you now and some of which I have to wait to tell you (some BIG announcements on the way, for real). Since I've been at school, I've been writing a lot. Maybe even too much. My schoolwork still tastes like senioritis and I still take a 30 minute break every few minutes to work on writing or listen to dope beats by dope producers. Anyway, all this means is that there's going to be a lot of good/new stuff on the way.... be prepared. I've already laid down one verse-track (which I'm going to post for kicks in one or two days with the Sam Adams Live video from the Chance show!! finally) and have some collab stuff to finish up. Turns out my suite mate, named Kia Albertson-Rogers, is a sick rapper. So we've got a song about the first week of college coming soon.. produced by Son Sound.... I got my Senioritis sales report from iTunes for July's sales, and I have to say thank you guys all SO much for the support. You guys are the best. Nothing at all would be possible without you. It seems that the album has been spreading a ton and I am so grateful and so excited for that. Please please please continue to show it to your friends, your enemies, your family, stranger hip-hop heads, and anyone you feel so inclined to... I sincerely appreciate it more than you will probably ever know. For anyone who hasn't gotten Senioritis, grab a copy right off my merch page on this website! It'll be mailed to ya in hardcopy for the cheapest price on the internet. Downloads are available off iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, basically anywhere. Just wanted to check in, let you know I'm alright. I know you've been worried. In the next few days I PROMISE I will post that Sammy show video and the next free download (and these will keep, keep coming). I love you guys! For any seniors who've headed off to college, best of luck and I hope it's rocking for ya so far. Beware of oriental dining food more than a few times a week...but indulge in campus ice cream. -dylan p.s. here are a few ambiguous teases into what may be in store for the future: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnAbszcy3bs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2_3feh6O4A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1qioqigLk0 http://www.clarkvision.com/galleries/gallery.large_format/web/colorado.fall.c09.30.2003.L4.9446-a+b.c-700.html (but picture a more city-ish shot...) | _Check me for updates, mood swings, and all new music information.
